Orange County is currently anticipating one of its greatest annual dance events, the Laguna Dance Festival–and as the Dd writer covering this weekend’s performances, I am, too. Bringing acclaimed companies Parsons Dance and Aspen Santa Fe Ballet to the Laguna Playhouse Thursday through Sunday, the Laguna Dance Festival will once again showcase the geographic and stylistic versatility of American dance. Parsons Dance is slated to perform two West Coast premieres and the iconic Caught, which I have never seen performed live, and Aspen Santa Fe Ballet will present works by Trey McIntyre, Jorma Elo, and Alejandro Cerrudo, all sophisticated names in the contemporary dance world. Now in its ninth season, the Laguna Dance Festival is regarded as a leader in presenting great dance, educating young dancers, and furthering Orange County’s appreciation of dance. Stay tuned for coverage of this week’s events, details of which can be found online at www.lagunadancefestival.org.
